I have a lovely visual for this word. The Veiled Virgin by Giovanni Strazza. It’s made of Carrara marble, but you’d swear the veil is diaphanous!

If you’ve seen My Fair Lady (and if not, why not?), do you remember what Henry Higgins said of Zoltan Karparthy oozing charm and oiling his way around the floor? I would say good ol’ Zoltan definitely fit the definition of oleaginous!
